Two women were injured Saturday after they were struck by an unknown driver who fled the scene in the College East neighborhood of San Diego.

San Diego Police Department officers responded at 12:30 a.m. to the 5000 block of College Avenue where they learned the suspect was driving a black or silver BMW south on College when a 20-year-old woman and a 19-year-old woman ran in front of the BMW, the police department said.

The BMW struck both women but did not stop.

The 20-year-old woman sustained a fractured left arm and a lacerated lung that required surgery and the 19-year-old sustained a lacerated liver, which also required surgery, police said.

The injuries were not considered life-threatening and alcohol was a factor in the collision, according to police.

The department’s Traffic Division is handling the investigation and anyone with information related to it was asked to call 858-495-7800 or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
