ANTIOCH — Two men who were shot to death during a gun battle with each other outside a bowling alley last weekend have been identified by authorities.

Police said the shootout in the parking lot of Delta Bowl, 3300 Delta Blvd., happened about 10:35 p.m. Saturday. Killed were 35-year-old Deantray Reed, of Oakley, and 34-year-old Antonio Drake, of Antioch.

The Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office publicly identified the two on Thursday.

The homicides were the 16th and 17th investigated by Antioch police this year, the most since at least 2005, when the department began keeping records that are preserved online.

The highest homicide total for the city previously from 2005-2023 was 13 in 2010.

In a statement, Antioch police said Drake was sitting in the driver’s seat of his car, getting ready to leave. Reed at some point approached the car and the two began to shoot at one another.

Authorities said that one of the men died in the parking lot while the other died after being rushed by ambulance to a hospital. They have not specified who died where.
