Two arrested after pursuit, crash in Poughkeepsie
New York State Police reported that two people were arrested following a pursuit between Dutchess and Ulster Counties.
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- New York State Police reported that two people were arrested following a pursuit between Dutchess and Ulster Counties. Amari Webb, 19 of Poughkeepsie, and an 18-year-old from Bogota, New Jersey whose name was not released, both face multiple charges.
On Saturday around 1:17 a.m., state police attempted to stop a car heading north on Route 9W in Lloyd for alleged vehicle and traffic law violations. The vehicle reportedly did not pull over, resulting in a pursuit to the city line of Poughkeepsie, where troopers canceled their chase.
The car was later found abandoned on Main Street in Poughkeepsie after it had crashed into several unoccupied parked vehicles. State police, in tandem with the City of Poughkeepsie Police Department, were able to locate and arrest the two suspects, identified as Webb and the 18-year-old, near Mill and North Bridge Streets.
During the investigation, three illegal handguns were reportedly recovered from the crashed car. The two now face the following charges:
- Three counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon
- Three counts of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon
Webb and the 18-year-old were arraigned at the Town of Lloyd Court on Tuesday. They were both then remanded to the Ulster County Jail with bail set at $200,000 cash, $300,000 bond, and $400,000 partially secured bond.
