Todd Chrisley has been let go from his job in the prison chapel, Us Weekly can confirm.

His attorney Jay Surgent told Us that Chrisley, 55, was an “assistant to the chapel in Pensacola for Christians, Jewish people and Muslims.”

“Someone saw him speaking to someone in the drug rehabilitation program,” Surgent explained. “For no reason after all this time, he’s dismissed saying he can’t do it anymore.”

Surgent noted that Chrisley held the job because he’s “a religious person.” He added, “They had no hearing, there was no announcement, no hearing, he wasn’t aware of the fact that … he did anything wrong.”

Todd Chrisley Fears for Wife Julie's ‘Health and Welfare’ While in Prison

Surgent called the decision to remove Chrisley from his role “horrible” and “absolutely ridiculous.”

“He was volunteering and became a leader, a lot of inmates came to him for counseling and guidance,” Surgent said. “He feels that he got screwed it up.”

A representative for the Federal Bureau of Prisons responded to Chrisley’s alleged firing on Wednesday, October 23, telling TMZ, “For privacy reasons, we do not comment on the conditions of confinement for any incarcerated individual, including their work detail assignments.” (TMZ was the first to report the news.)

Todd and his wife, Julie Chrisley, were indicted on tax evasion charges in 2019. The pair were subsequently found guilty in June 2022 of tax evasion, bank and wire fraud and conspiracy.

Todd and Julie were initially ordered to serve 12 and seven years in prison, respectively. Us previously confirmed that Todd’s sentence was reduced to 10 years. A judge recently decided to uphold Julie’s original prison sentence of 84 months.

After the ruling, Surgent shared in a statement to the New York Post that Todd was “extremely disappointed” and “dissatisfied.” Todd is also “concerned about Julie’s health and welfare,” particularly after she suffered from a “serious health problem.” (Details about Julie’s condition were not shared by Todd nor his attorney.)

The couple’s daughter Savannah Chrisley revealed in a March episode of her “Unlocked” podcast that Julie learned she might have a tumor. In the episode, Savannah, 27, read a letter from her mom aloud.

“I walked in thinking it was Gynecology. I sat down with the doctor and she proceeds to tell me that my HCG level was high — 10.2. This is a pregnancy hormone. It should not be that high,” Julie wrote in the message. “If it were a little higher, I would test positive on a pregnancy test. Since that’s not a possibility, it could be a sign of a tumor.”

The letter continued, “I literally fell apart. How can this be happening? I’m going to have blood work redone and get a scan. I’ve not told anyone and I’m not going to until I know what’s going on. I’m so scared. I just want my husband. I don’t know if I can do this without him.”

Todd and Julie, who wed in 1996, also share Chase, 28, Grayson, 18, and Chloe, 11. Todd is also father to Lindsie, 35, and Kyle, 33, from a previous marriage. Kyle is Chloe’s biological father but was adopted by Todd and Julie in 2016. Savannah was given custody of Grayson and Chloe after Todd and Julie’s conviction.
