(KRON) -- Police officers found a suspected DUI driver sleeping at the wheel while stopped in the middle of a street in West Berkeley early Saturday morning, according to the Berkeley Police Department.
Police responded just before 3 a.m. to the intersection of Fourth Street and Hearst Avenue and found the sleeping driver near an open bottle of alcohol in the vehicle, Berkeley PD said. The driver, identified as a 63-year-old man from Alameda, was woken up and given a series of field sobriety tests.
Inside the vehicle, police said officers located a handgun. Berkeley PD shared a photo showing an opened bottle of wine, a handgun, a loaded handgun magazine and a handgun case.
The man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and suspicion of carrying a concealed weapon.
