Police are searching for a suspect wanted for sexually assaulting and attempting to kidnap an 11-year-old girl.
The incident happened on Oct. 21 as the young girl was walking near M Street and Gulf Avenue in Wilmington at around 3:15 p.m.
Suddenly, a male suspect approached the girl from behind, fondled her breasts, and attempted to take her from the area, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Bystanders who witnessed the attempted kidnapping intervened and scared off the suspect as he got into his car and sped away.
The suspect is described as a White or Hispanic male between 20 to 30 years old.
He stands around 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs about 240 pounds. He was driving a gray Nissan Kicks with a spare wheel mounted on the rear passenger side.
