SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- A suspect is in custody after a person was shot Thursday at a trolley stop at San Diego State University, school officials said.
The shooting occurred around 4:58 p.m. in the area of 5100 College Avenue, the San Diego Police Department confirmed to FOX 5/KUSI.
Authorities found a man with a gunshot wound at the trolley stop, which is located underground. The victim was taken to a hospital where his status is unknown, according to SDSU.
The university confirmed one suspect was taken into custody.
"Individuals involved are not SDSU affiliates," SDSU said, adding that those on campus should remain indoors and be on alert as the incident is an active police situation.
The shooting is not related to the brush fire that broke out earlier this afternoon near the campus, school officials said.
