Police have detained a suspect connected to a man being shot to death in a Kia Soul in Boyle Heights.
According to LAPD Lt. Ryan Rabbett, the shooting occurred around midnight in a residential area in the 500 block of South Grande Vista Avenue near Lanfranco Street.
Arriving officers located a victim seated inside a car with gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Video from the scene taken by KTLA shows investigators canvassing the area for evidence. A white tent had been erected around the Kia Soul.
A suspect was located and detained, Lt. Rabbett said, and officers are still interviewing residents and gathering surveillance footage.
It is not known if this shooting was gang related.
No further details, including the identities of the detainee and victim, were released.
