EL CAJON, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) -- A man suspected of pointing a shotgun at several people in El Cajon and leading police on a chase through San Diego County was arrested Monday, authorities said.
Daniel Santiago, 45, faces felony charges related to the assault and pursuit, Lt. Kevin Reilly with the El Cajon Police Department said in a news release.
The incident started around 12:29 p.m. in the 400 block of Emerald Avenue, according to authorities. Police received reports of a man threatening community members, who were on their way to work when the suspect pulled up next to them in a truck.
"The man pointed a shotgun at the victims and accused them of following him. After the victims called police for help, an officer on patrol spotted the suspect truck," Reilly said.
A pursuit ensued when police attempted to conduct a high-risk traffic stop on the Interstate 8 westbound ramp from West Main Street, police said. While the suspect did initially stop his truck, he continued to lead officers on a pursuit through San Diego and onto the Coronado Bridge.
After about 10 minutes of negotiation, the suspect surrendered.
