As the Christmas and New Year holidays approach, residents in the United States who rely on some types of government financial aid, whether federal or state, are beginning to look ahead to 2025, as it appears that such stimulus checks will no longer be available until the new year begins.
However, some of these stimulus checks remain to be given, which are quite useful to a big segment of the population since inflation and high living costs continue to cause significant economic issues for residents, particularly those in the most disadvantaged sectors. Mesa County in Colorado, for example, is refunding excess revenue to its 114,839 active registered voters in compliance with the Taxpayer’s Bill of Rights, which voters adopted.
Based on data from the same government entity, Mesa County collected approximately $11,492,270 million more than the TABOR limit in 2023, so each active voter over the age of 18 as of November 25, 2024 , will receive a refund of $100 per voter, which will be distributed via refund checks mailed this week, December 16, 2024.
Alaska and PDF for some qualified beneficiaries:
Alaska is another state awaiting aid delivery, with its Permanent Fund Dividend (PDF) for individuals who qualify as “Eligible-Not Paid.” Alaska’s PDF, established in 1976 to handle the state’s oil and natural resource profits, will make a final payment in 2024 to some eligible recipients totaling 600,000 persons.
Eligible beneficiaries are individuals whose dividend applications for 2024 are in ‘Eligible-Unpaid’ status as of December 11, 2024. They will receive a $1,312 payment on December 19, 2024. However, there is still one more stimulus check (payable on January 16, 2025) for individuals who appear “in ‘Eligible-Unpaid’ status on January 8, 2025.
