SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- SUNY Schenectady County Community College (SCCC) President Dr. Steady Moono announced on Friday his intention to step down from his role. His final day as president will be July 1, 2026.

Moono began his tenure with SCCC in July 2015. The college credits his leadership with expanding the school's academic offerings, overseeing the completion of extensive renovations and additions, and cultivating bonds with various organizations and institutions to secure career paths for students after graduation and to grow the college's international student population.

"It has been an honor to serve as President of SUNY Schenectady," Moono said. "I am so proud to have seen the transformation of the college's community during my time here alongside the innovation and investments across our campus grow into the SUNY Schenectady of today and into tomorrow. I am excited for all that lies ahead in 2025 and beyond."

"I would like to express my immense gratitude and appreciation to Dr. Moono for all he has provided SUNY Schenectady and its community," said Ann Fleming Brown, SUNY Schenectady Board of Trustees Chair. "We appreciate his continued leadership and guidance and look forward to honoring him next year into 2026."

Moono earned multiple awards during his tenure, including the Education Leadership Excellence Award by the Mwape Peer Awards in 2018 and the Distinguished Educator Award by the Zambians Promoting Leadership in America and Shifting Mindsets in 2021.
