DENVER (KDVR) — While December's weather has been pretty moderate for this time of the year, strong winds rocked part of the Front Range overnight Wednesday into Thursday.
The Pinpoint Weather team issued a Pinpoint Weather Alert Day for strong winds across the Front Range, foothills and mountains. Some areas above 9,000 feet were expected to see gusts exceeding 60 miles an hour.
According to the National Weather Service, one area saw gusts in the triple digits.
The peak of the wind event occurred between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m. on Thursday, causing power outages for nearly 5,000 customers in Cleark Creek and Gilpin County.
