Strong Santa Ana Winds Force School Closures
The winds, which are expected to be accompanied by very dry and warming weather, will continue into at least Thursday and then be followed by cooler weather, said the National Weather Service.
Strong Santa Ana winds have prompted the closure of schools in the most southeastern district in San Diego County.
Schools in the Mountain Empire Unified School District will be closed all day Wednesday because of gusts that will make driving challenging through mountainous areas, particularly in high-profile vehicles.
The San Diego County Office of Education made the announcement Tuesday evening.
School Closure Alert: Schools in the Mountain Empire School District will be closed Wed., Nov. 6 due to high winds, which make travel to and from school challenging, especially for high-profile vehicles like school buses. Updates to be provided, as needed.

The winds, which are expected to be accompanied by very dry and warming weather, will continue into at least Thursday and then be followed by cooler weather, said the National Weather Service.
“A low pressure system will move quickly inland through California early next week will bring stronger onshore flow with gusty west winds for the mountains and deserts, cooling, and a slight chance of showers for Monday night,” the NWS said.
“Then dry and warmer for the middle of next week.”
