(KRON) -- The Oakland Police Department found a stolen forklift on Tuesday while investigating a smoke shop in West Oakland, OPD said. Police also found that the smoke shop was operating without proper licenses for tobacco and cannabis sales.
OPD's Alcohol Beverage Action Team (ABAT) and the California Department of Tax and Fees (CDTFA) investigated the smoke shop on Dec. 27. It is located on the 2400 block of San Pablo Avenue.
Investigators learned that the store was missing licenses from both the City of Oakland and California. They seized banned flavored tobacco products, cannabis products and psilocybin mushrooms.
Officers came back to the shop on Jan. 7 to serve a search warrant at the store and attached warehouse. They found the stolen forklift and more prohibited tobacco products and psilocybin, police said.
The forklift was stolen in a 2022 Oakland burglary. It was returned to its rightful owner.
The business was served a Nuisance Abatement Notice in December, which police found it violated in January.
No arrests have been made. The Alameda County District Attorney's Office is investigating for civil charges and possible eviction.
