ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. - A St. Louis County woman faces a felony charge after she allegedly shook an infant in her care, resulting in severe injuries.

The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney's Office formally charged Mary Williams, 19, with one count of abuse or neglect of a child (causing serious injury) on Friday.

According to court documents obtained by FOX 2, the victim was a two-month-old infant. The victim suffered a spinal fracture, a brain bleed and severe bruising in the buttocks.

Police responded to a home in St. John, Missouri, after reports related to the infant. Upon arrival, officers say the victim was found unresponsive and barely breathing.

Williams confessed to officers that, at some point, she became overwhelmed and shook the baby, per court documents.

Williams was booked into jail in St. Louis County on a $350,000, according to online Missouri court records.
