Speeding St. Paul driver causes multi-car I-94 crash in Minneapolis, officials say, leaving one dead
Multiple people were injured, including a child.
A crash involving seven vehicles Wednesday killed one person and injured several more.
The Minnesota State Patrol said a St. Paul man, 29, was speeding in a 2006 Chevy Avalanche eastbound on Interstate 94 when he crashed into multiple cars near Lyndale Avenue at about 9:17 p.m., according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
Killed in the crash was Natalie Gubbay, 26, of Minneapolis, who had been driving a 2015 Jeep Cherokee.
A passenger in the St. Paul man’s SUV was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, according the State Patrol.
The Avalanche driver and eight other people, including a 2-year-old boy, sustained injuries that weren’t considered life-threatening.
Along with speeding, alcohol was suspected as a factor in the crash, according to the State Patrol’s preliminary incident report.
