The cause of death of South Korean actress Kim Sae-ron has been revealed.

The 24-year-old's death has been ruled a suicide by the Seongdong Police Station in Seoul, according to The Korea Times.

"We believe she made an extreme choice and plan to handle it as a suicide," police officials told South Korea's Yonhap News Agency.

The actress, who starred in Netflix's "Bloodhounds," was found dead at her home on Sunday by a friend.

When police arrived, they found no signs of foul play or forced entry. They also said they did not find a note from Kim.

The former child star gained fame at just nine years old when she starred in “A Brand New Life." The film, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, went on to win several awards on the festival circuit.

The 2010 action-thriller "The Man from Nowhere," launched her into superstardom. Her other film credits include 2012's "The Neighbor" and 2014's "A Girl at My Door."

She went on to rack up several other roles in movies and TV dramas until a DUI in May of 2022 caused her to step away from acting.

Kim was sentenced to $15,000 USD in fines after crashing her vehicle into a transformer that cut power to 57 stores in the area for about three hours, according to Yonhap.

As a result of that hiatus, she was reportedly removed from several scenes in "Bloodhounds."

She attempted to return to acting in the stage production "Dongchimi," but withdrew due to health issues which led to backlash according to The Korea Times.

In the fall of 2024, she tried restarting her career once again by signing on to the upcoming film “Guitar Man." She even reportedly changed her name "in hopes of a new beginning."

"We are deeply saddened by the tragic news of Kim Sae-ron's passing. May she rest in peace," her former agency Gold Medalist said in a statement to the outlet.
