(KRON) -- A San Jose crew who took orders from Facebook and OfferUp before stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars' worth of construction materials from home improvement stores and delivering them to buyers was arrested, the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office announced Tuesday.
The three suspects involved in the organized retail thefts face charges after authorities said they used online marketplaces to connect with buyers. The crew stole nearly $200,000 in paint, tape and other construction materials from The Home Depot and Lowe’s Home Improvement stores over the span of months, the sheriff's office said.
The stolen materials were then delivered to the buyers at construction job sites, according to the sheriff’s Retail Theft Task Force investigation.
Three individuals arrested face charges of organized retail theft and were booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail.
