ST. LOUIS - Moderate to heavy rain moved in Sunday evening and waves of rain and storms will continue through Monday and into Tuesday, bringing 2 to 5 inches of rain to the region.
Widespread flooding is not expected from this rain because of how dry the region has been lately. However, street ponding and spot flooding from leaves clogging drains can’t be ruled out.
Rain will be steady, moderate to heavy Monday morning. Rain will become a bit more scattered into the afternoon and evening before ramping back up Monday night. Temperatures hold steady in the 60s.
Monday night will bring more heavy rain and the potential for strong to severe storms, especially over southwest and central Missouri. The biggest concern is for damaging wind gusts of 50-60 mph, but isolated, quick-spin-up tornadoes can’t be ruled out. The strongest storms look to be between 3 a.m. and 9 a.m.
Rain will linger for Election Day Tuesday, especially in the morning. Cooler air will slide into the region Tuesday night. Two dry days Wednesday and Thursday before rain chances return.
