A new housing unit for homeless veterans opened in Albany on Tuesday.
ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A new housing unit for homeless veterans opened in Albany on Tuesday. The New York State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance said the Clinton Avenue Veterans Apartments will have six supportive housing units.
The state worked with the Albany Housing Coalition to renovate two, neighboring row houses to create six, one bedroom apartments. The project cost $1.8 million.
It was funded through the Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance’s Homeless Housing and Assistance Program, a U.S. Housing and Urban Development HOME grant through the Albany Community Development Agency, and additional funding from Trustco Bank.
The Department of Veterans Services helped furnish the apartments.
