In a recent announcement, DevourGO, a pioneering web3 food company, revealed that a food order was successfully paid for using Shiba Inu tokens. The transaction was processed through Coinbase Commerce, a platform that allows merchants to accept various cryptocurrencies. While it remains uncertain if this marks the absolute first instance of SHIB-paid food delivery, it undoubtedly represents a significant development for the meme coin’s usability.

This shows that more and more people are now using Shiba Inu for their transactions in their day to day life. Shiba Inu holders now can settle their food bills using their tokens,  which is evidence of cryptos’ adoption in the world of commerce. 

Collaboration with Coinbase Commerce

DevourGO is now fully compatible with Coinbase Commerce; thus, customers can use their Coinbase account to pay for food delivery. This not only provides customers with more payment methods but also fits the current trend of using cryptocurrencies for shopping. In a blog post, DevourGO provided a step-by-step guide on how customers can pay using cryptocurrencies in a straightforward four-step process.

Customers can place their food orders on DevourGO, select ‘Pay with Coinbase’ at checkout, authorize the transaction through their Coinbase account or wallet, and wait for confirmation. This makes the payment process easier but also means that businesses can tap into the market of crypto enthusiasts.

Shelly Rupel, CEO of Devour, described the partnership as a mutually beneficial arrangement. According to Rupel,

Crypto users now have the convenience they crave, and restaurants now have a new way to tap into a growing and tech-savvy customer base.

Growing Utility and Market Sentiment 

The adoption of SHIB in food delivery payments shows the increasing viability of the token for practical purposes. Major payment processors like BitPay, Binance, and Coinbase have helped push the adoption of Shiba Inu from being a meme coin to a real payment currency. This increasing use is likely to create more demand and possibly elevate the worth of SHIB in the future.

Despite this positive development, the price of Shiba Inu has not shown a significant reaction. The token is currently trading at $0.00002075, with daily and weekly losses of 3.74% and 13.61%, respectively. This trend mirrors the broader crypto market, where other assets like Solana (SOL) and XRP (XRP) have also experienced substantial declines. However, the Shiba Inu community still holds on to the possibility of the token bouncing back due to the constant support from the major entities and its versatility in uses.

Shiba Inu’s market capitalization is still above $12 billion, which makes it rank second after Dogecoin ($DOGE) among the meme coins. According to analysts, the short-term outlook is quite positive, with the price expected to reach $0. 00002819 in the next five days and a monthly high of $0.00007000, which is quite a jump from the current price.
