LATHAM, NY (NEWS10) -- The Shaker boys basketball team entered Tuesday night as the lone unbeaten team in Suburban Council play. Christian Brothers Academy looked to end that streak at Shaker.
The Brothers took a 33-31 lead into halftime. They led 41-40 after three quarters.
CBA built their lead to as many as nine points in the fourth quarter. JJ Osinski tallied his 1,000th career point during the run to extend the lead.
The Blue Bison stampeded back, ending the game on a 12-0 run to win it 57-53. Bless Demand gave Shaker the lead on a three-pointer with under a minute to play. "I knew I was open and I knew once I got that ball, I was going to knock it down.," said Demand. " We just fought. Every day in practice we compete and we actually get ready for these type of moments in practice."
The Blue Bison move to 9-0 in league play. "We believe," said head coach Aric Kucel. "We believe in each other. We know we're a good team. That's a good team we just beat. It's just another thing going into sectionals and down the stretch here; we're battle tested. We certainly didn't have our A-game. Just belief in ourselves and our in our kids and we found a way."
