DENVER (KDVR) -- The town of Erie might be looking more, well, eerie over the past month after a horror-comedy movie started filming in the area.

The movie, "Eerie Town," follows a character named Jessie Bridges who returns home to win back the love of his life, only to find himself in the midst of a "vampire hunt gone wrong," according to the film's Facebook page. He joins his friends in a mission to survive a zombie hoard, while also meeting someone new along the way.

Over the past month, the film has been posting on its social media looking to cast actors and extras and collect pieces for the set.

After it was able to pull together people, set equipment and almost $10K in donations, the page started posting about its filming endeavors about a month ago, which included zombies walking around parts of town, nearby local restaurants and even inside the library.

So if you see zombies around town, it's (hopefully) from the movie set.

While filming is well underway, the process took years, according to the writer, producer, director and hero of the film Michael Freeman.

Freeman said on his GoFundMe page that he's been in the video production industry for over 15 years, but only started pursuing his dream of narrative filmmaking after he was laid off from his job during the pandemic.

Now, he's working on the film and he's asking for the community's help. Freeman said his GoFundMe page is to raise enough money for the items that can't be donated, like production insurance, special effects, props and more.

In the meantime, people are donating their time and other resources to this film.

Even the town of Erie is helping out. While the town said that the film isn't sponsored, produced or filmed by the town, they approved the production to film in a few of their streets and alleyways.

There's still a way to be part of this film. The movie often posts on its Facebook about needing extras for the set. On Monday, the film posted on social media that it's looking for light towers for its big zombie scene. In the same post, it said that they need a street full of zombies, and there's more information to come.

If you want to follow along with this film, or even become part of it, the movie is constantly posting on its social media with updates.
