SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- U.S. Secret Service agents used a SWAT team to serve a federal arrest warrant at a house on Macalvey Drive in Martinez Wednesday evening, investigators said. The house is located on a quiet residential street with horseback riding trails nearby.
A man who lives at the home barricaded himself inside when the Secret Service showed up at his front door at 7 p.m.
"The SWAT team deployed diversionary tactics in an effort to make contact with the lone male subject. After several attempts, a member of the Crisis Negotiating Team established contact with the subject and was able to convince him to surrender," the Martinez Police Department wrote.
Matthew Young, Secret Service assistant special agent in charge, declined to release the man's name on Thursday. Young told KRON4, "To maintain the integrity of our work, the U.S. Secret Service does not confirm or comment on potential criminal investigations."
Law enforcement officials did not say why the man was wanted. It's unclear what federal crimes he is suspected of committing.
