San Diego State survived a scare against San Jose State with a furious comeback win Tuesday. Down by as many as 21 points, the Aztecs closed the night on a 21-6 scoring run to earn its seventh Mountain West conference win.

Aztecs’ head coach Brian Dutcher said at a press conference that the comeback was fun, and the energy in the building was “incredible,” however he has already moved onto the next opponent, a Wyoming team coming off a double-digit win over Fresno State.

“Coaches don’t sleep at night when they give up 15 threes, and they sleep less when they’re about to play a team that just hit 17 in Wyoming.”

Dutcher keyed in on three-point defense, and how key that will be for continued success.

Heading into Saturday’s contest against the Cowboys, the Aztecs remain alone in third place in the Mountain West standings, only behind Utah State, New Mexico and Colorado State.

Senior Aztec Nick Boyd knows not to underestimate a team just by its record, something the Aztecs learned the hard way in a tough contest against a sub-.500 San Jose State team. That is no different with Wyoming.

“All the teams we face this year come ready to play, especially when they’re at Viejas,” Boyd said.

Obi Agbim, the conference’s second leading scorer, will garner much of the Aztecs’ attention.

“He is not second in the conference in scoring without the ability to create his own shot,” Dutcher said. “They run a lot of good plays for him.”

Wyoming vs. SDSU tips off at 6 p.m. PST Saturday, and will be broadcasted on CBS.
