SDFC Announces Re-Entry Draft Selection, Other Transactions Before Inaugural Season

The San Diego FC is preparing for their first season in Major League Soccer, and to kick it off they selected their first player in the 2024 MLS Re-Entry Draft Friday, goalkeeper and San Diego native Jacob Jackson. SDFC will pick up his contract option for the 2025 MLS season.
Jackson, picked 24th overall by the New England Revolution in the 2022 MLS SuperDraft, made three appearances with the San Jose Earthquakes in 2024 after he was claimed off waivers in April.
The 24-year-old spent most of his time with the clubs’ MLS NEXT Pro affiliates, New England Revolution ll and The Town FC.
In other SDFC news, the club acquired two 2025 International Roster Slots from the Seattle Sounders FC Thursday in exchange for $250,000 in 2025 General Allocation Money.
Also on Thursday, SDFC acquired Colombian defender Andrés Reyes from the New York Red Bulls in exchange for $600,000 in GAM, $200,000 in 2026 GAM and a future sell-on percentage. Reyes has a guaranteed contract through the 2026 season with a club option for an additional year.
In his four seasons with the Red Bulls, Reyes made 71 starts and scored five goals. At the international level, Reyes made two career appearances for the Colombian Senior National Team.
SDFC will host St. Louis CITY SC at Snapdragon Stadium in its inaugural home match on Saturday, March 1 at 7:30 PST.
