Schenectady man accused of possessing stolen firearm
Police arrested a Schenectady man on Tuesday after he allegedly possessed a stolen firearm. Desmond Terry, 22, is facing charges of second-degree criminal possession of a firearm and criminal possession of stolen property, specifically a firearm.
COLONIE, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- Police arrested a Schenectady man on Tuesday after he allegedly possessed a stolen firearm. Desmond Terry, 22, is facing charges of second-degree criminal possession of a firearm and criminal possession of stolen property, specifically a firearm.
Police were on patrol at Motel 6 on Central Avenue around 11:10 p.m. when they found a person, later identified as Terry, sitting in the running without license plates or registration. During their investigation, police said that Terry had a loaded handgun that was reported stolen out of Kissimmee, Florida, and had no firearm license.
Police commended the Motel 6 staff for their partnership in crime reduction and assistance in law enforcement investigations. Terry was arraigned in Colonie Town Court and remains in Albany County Jail pending a preliminary hearing.
