Saratoga Chowderfest road closures announced

According to organizers, they are ramping up security this year, blocking off more roads than ever and working with several city leaders to ensure safety remains their top priority. More specifically, Phila Street, Caroline Street, Henry Street, Maple Street, and Broadway will be closed to traffic. Saratoga Springs Police announced the accompanying road closures and parking restrictions that will be in place for the yearly event.

Saratoga Chowderfest road closures announced

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- The 26th annual Saratoga Chowderfest is set to take place on Saturday, Feb. 8, despite the expected snowy weather conditions. The event will kick off at 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. in downtown Saratoga Springs.

According to organizers, they are ramping up security this year, blocking off more roads than ever and working with several city leaders to ensure safety remains their top priority. More specifically, Phila Street, Caroline Street, Henry Street, Maple Street, and Broadway will be closed to traffic.

Saratoga Springs Police announced the accompanying road closures and parking restrictions that will be in place for the yearly event.

Closed Streets

Closed from 10 a.m. to around 5 p.m.

  • Broadway from Washington Street to Lake Avenue
  • Division Street from Connolly Way (alley behind parking garage) to Broadway
  • Phila Street from Broadway to Henry Street
  • Pavilion Row from parking lot of Whitman Brewing to Caroline Street
  • Henry Street from Lake Avenue to Caroline Street
  • Maple Ave/Putnam Street from Phila Street to Lake Avenue
  • Ellsworth Jones from Broadway to Maple Avenue
  • Short Alley will be closed at Henry Street

No-Parking Zones

City police will begin towing cars from these areas starting at 8 a.m. on Saturday

  • Broadway from Lake Avenue to Spring Street
  • Caroline Street from Broadway to Henry Street
  • Putnam/Maple from Lake Avenue to Spring Street
  • Henry Street from Lake Avenue to Caroline Street
  • Phila Street from Putnam Street to Henry Street

"We work well with our city officials, the department of accounts, the department of public safety, the fire department in Saratoga Springs, and the police department," Darryl Leggieri, president of Discover Saratoga said. "One of the things we’re doing this year for the first time due to the recent tragic events in New Orleans is we are looking to close down Broadway."

A free shuttle service will also be busing people from the Saratoga Casino Hotel to downtown Saratoga. Parking is available at the Saratoga Civic Center.
