San Jose police seek public’s help in finding hit-and-run suspect

SAN JOSE – Authorities are asking for the public’s help in identifying a driver who slammed into a pedestrian and drove away earlier this month near San Jose State University.

The incident happened around 1:20 a.m. on Oct. 12 at South 4th and East San Carlos streets, San Jose police Officer Tanya Hernandez said in a news release Wednesday.

Hernandez said a woman was crossing the intersection on foot when she was hit by a driver traveling southbound on South 4th Street. The driver did not stop at the scene.

The woman was taken to an area hospital with major injuries, which were later deemed not life-threatening.

The hit-and-run collision was caught on camera. On Wednesday, police released footage of the incident and described the suspect’s vehicle as a dark-colored sedan.

Anyone with information related to the case can contact Detective Rachel Bowen at 408-277-4654 or 4461@sanjoseca.gov.
