SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- The 57th annual Cherry Blossom Festival kicks off its first of two weekend spring celebrations in Japantown this Saturday and Sunday, April 12 and April 13 at 10 a.m.
The San Francisco Municipal Transit Authority (SFMTA) announced several street closures and service changes to help festivalgoers plan their trips ahead to the city's Western Addition District.
SFMTA said the following streets will be closed to traffic from 4 a.m. Saturday through 11 p.m. Sunday:
- Buchanan Street between Bush and Sutter streets
- Sutter Street between Buchanan and Webster streets
- Webster Street between Sutter and Geary streets
The following street will also be closed to traffic from 8 a.m. Saturday through 5 p.m. Sunday:
- Post Street between Laguna and Fillmore streets
If you're planning to use Muni service, SFTMA confirmed that there will be temporary reroutes on the 2 Sutter bus line throughout the weekend. There will not be any missed stops.
The 2 Sutter Inbound to Downtown line will run 6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. from Sutter and Webster streets via Webster, Bush, Buchanan, Sutter to its regular route. The 2 Sutter Outbound to The Richmond line will run 6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. from Sutter and Buchanan streets via Buchanan, Pine, Webster, Sutter to its regular route.
