Influenza, or flu, is a contagious respiratory infection that can cause serious illness. Symptoms include fatigue, body aches, coughs, and sometimes fever, vomiting, and diarrhea.
The influenza virus circulates throughout the year, but flu cases increase during the fall and winter. Vaccines are key to preventing viral spread during this time.
Public health officials say that everyone six months of age and older should receive the flu vaccine every year.
