A San Bernardino County elementary school worker was arrested for the alleged sexual abuse of a child.
The suspect was identified as Fadil Shabazz, 39, of Victorville, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
Shabazz is an employee at Brentwood Elementary School in Victorville where, according to the school’s website, he is listed as a para-educator within the school’s support staff.
On Nov. 20, authorities from Victorville Police began investigating the reported sexual abuse of a child.
Investigators contacted Shabazz for an interview and later arrested him for alleged lewd and lascivious acts on a child under the age of 14.
Authorities said the alleged crime did not occur on the school campus and so far, no further victims have been identified. The victim was also not a current or former student of the school, detectives said.
No further information was released as the case remains under investigation.
“The Sheriff’s Department and Victor Valley Elementary School District work together regularly to protect the youth of our community,” said SBSD.“The Sheriff’s Department is appreciative of the school district's assistance with our ongoing criminal investigation.”
