Ryan Caponera sworn in as Colonie Town Justice
Colonie appointed a new town justice on Monday morning.
COLONIE, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- Colonie appointed a new town justice on Monday morning. Town Supervisor Peter Crummey swore in Ryan P. Caponera just before he starts his term on January 1, 2025.
Caponera is familiar to Colonie. He served as Chair of the Sign Review Board in 2023 and, most recently, as counsel to the Zoning Board of Appeal. He is also the Vice President and managing partner of his law firm, Caponera Law Firm.
Crummey said he is pleased to have Caponera as Town Justice. His uncle, Phillip Caponera, served as town justice for 26 years.
"The Justice Court will benefit from his wide range of experience," Crummey said. "Ryan has practiced in the court and is aware of its structure and high volume."
Caponera is serving the last year of Norma Massry's four-year term. Massry is retiring, and his last day as Town Justice is Tuesday, December 31.
