Royal family announces death of Queen Camilla’s dog Beth

Queen Camilla and the rest of the British royal family are mourning the loss of her longtime canine sidekick Beth.

The Jack Russell Terrier had an untreatable tumor and had to be put down over the weekend, People reported Monday. The dog had been the Queen’s constant companion since 2011, when she adopted the pet from Battersea Dogs and Cats Home in South London. A year later another dog, the same breed, joined them, also from Battersea.

Queen Camilla doted on Beth, as evidenced by the photo montage the royal family posted on its social media accounts.

“A sad farewell to Beth, the Queen’s much-loved companion,” the royals’ Instagram and twitter accounts captioned a photo of Camilla walking the pup, “who brought such joy, whether on walkies, helping on official duties, or curled up by the fire.”

The photos showed Beth cavorting with the 77-year-old queen, rubbing noses with King Charles, and even helping unveil a plaque at the Battersea Dogs and Cats Home in 2020. Beth and Bluebell also stole the show in the couple’s 15th-anniversary photos, which featured them snuggled in the monarchs’ laps.

So devoted was Camilla to her pups that she had their likenesses embroidered in gold thread on her coronation gown.
