Roseville’s Central Park lights to undergo repairs following copper wire thefts

People planning to use the trails in Roseville’s Central Park at night won’t be able to see much for awhile following a string of copper wire thefts affecting 27 of its outdoor lights.

This is the first incident of a park being targeted in Roseville, according to Matthew Johnson, Roseville parks and recreation director. Johnson said the city is aware of other incidents that have happened in other cities.

The city plans to do repairs on the lights, which could take weeks or more and over $70,000 to repair. A timetable for repairs has not been announced, but Roseville police are investigating the Nov. 16 incident while city park officials continue to assess damages. More than 18,000 feet of copper wire was stolen.
