ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Republican incumbent Jake Ashby has won the race for New York's 43rd State Senate District. The Associated Press called the race for Ashby over Democrat challenger Alvin Gamble.
New York's 43rd State Senate District includes Rensselaer County and parts of Washington and Albany Counties.
"Our decisive win tonight proves that Capital Region voters want candidates who bring people together, who deliver tangible results and detail a positive vision for real change," said Ashby. "I look forward to continuing our work to make New York safer, stronger and more affordable."
In Ashby's candidate interview with NEWS10, he said he aims to work with both parties to improve affordability and assist small businesses in the state. Another priority of Ashby's platform was focusing on out-migration in New York.
