A Loggerhead Sea Turtle was set free off San Diego Coast Thursday after months of rehabilitation.
Moira, who was found cold stunned in British Columbia February, was rehabilitated by multiple organizations including SeaWorld San Diego Rescue. The organizations took care to return her to the wild, as loggerhead turtles are an endangered species. Protecting sea turtles – especially female sea turtles essential to the species’ reproduction – is vital to maintain the health of the marine ecosystem.
“When organizations unite in conservation we’re not just saving an individual—we’re committing to biodiversity and contributing to the survival of a species,” said the President of Turtles Fly Too, the organization that airlifted Moira from British Columbia to San Diego.
