AUSTIN (KXAN) -- After a recent stretch of chilly and damp weather, today will be a transition day to a warmer and drier pattern that continues into the start of the work week.
We start our Sunday with overcast skies, pockets of drizzle and patchy fog. By midday, rain disappears, and although clouds will be stubborn to clear, a few breaks of sun are possible before evening.
Afternoon highs will return to the low to mid-60s across most of Central Texas today, seasonable for this time of year. A few of us may reach 70° in the Hill Country due to the earlier arrival of drier air and sunshine.
Tomorrow will feel somewhat of a fluke as afternoon temperatures skyrocket to the 80s. Austin's forecast high of 81° is likely to come within 2° of the record set back in 2019.
This unseasonable warmth will not last long though as a strong cold front Monday night will knock us back down to the 50s and 60s Tuesday and Wednesday.
Overnight lows will take a similar tumble with widespread 30s expected Tuesday and Wednesday night.
