The gunfire was reported about 3:15 p.m. in the 900 block of Leland Street in Spring Valley, just north of Jamacha Boulevard, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office.
No details about the shooting – including what led to it and whether it resulted in any injuries – were available as of early Friday evening.
The public was asked to avoid the area until further notice.
The San Diego Police Department was called in to investigate the gunfire under terms of a countywide agreement designed to prevent conflicts of interest.
