An investigation continued Wednesday as authorities publicly identified a 46-year-old man who was shot to death last week in a Southcrest neighborhood.

Patrol officers received a call about a shooting in the south alley of the 3700 block of National Avenue just before midnight on Nov. 27, according to a police statement.

Officers found Manual Correa suffering from a gunshot wound with bystanders giving aid. Police took over giving aid until paramedics arrived, but Correa was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said Correa, a nearby resident, got into an altercation with a group in a parking lot, leading to an exchange of gunfire.

The group fled the scene, with some leaving in a white Lexus that police later traced using automated license plate readers. Officers found the vehicle in the driveway of a residence at 1700 49th Street in the Ridgeview/Webster neighborhood, detaining several individuals and impounding the car as evidence.

Police said one man was arrested on unrelated firearms and narcotics charges, but no homicide suspect has been identified.

Authorities asked anyone with information about the shooting to call the SDPD Homicide Unit at 619-531-2293 or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
