Police issue shelter in place after bomb threat at Aurora shopping center

DENVER (KDVR) — The Aurora Police Department is on the scene of a shopping center near South Peoria Street and East Cornell Avenue after a bomb threat.

A shelter-in-place order has been issued for residents in the area of Cornell Avenue to East Dartmouth Avenue and from Peoria to Interstate 225.

Police asked people to stay off the streets for safety reasons.

There are several stores in the area impacted by the shelter-in-place, including a King Soopers. An apartment complex is also under the shelter-in-place order.

A large police and Aurora Fire Department presence is in the area.

APD said there will be traffic impacts in the immediate area, and urged people to use Yale Avenue as an alternate east-west route and Havana Street as an alternate north-south route.
