AUSTIN (KXAN) -- Austin police are investigating the city's 56th homicide of the year after a person died outside a northeast Austin bar overnight.
Austin Police Department officers responded to a "shoot/stab/hotshot" call around 1:43 a.m. Friday to the parking lot of a restaurant/bar in the 900 block of East Braker Lane.
When police arrived, they found two men who were hurt and tried to save their lives until medics and the fire department arrived and took over treatment. One of the men was pronounced dead on the scene at 2:05 a.m. The other was taken to a local hospital.
Police said during a media briefing Friday morning that two people were detained, but did not say if they are facing any charges at this time. Police are not aware of any other suspects and said this was an isolated incident and there's no ongoing threat to the public.
APD said the area where it happened is "known to patrol officers to be a high crime area where violent crimes such as shootings, homicides and robberies do occur."
Police also said they believe businesses in the lot have their own security but it was unclear whether they were patrolling the lot at the time of the incident.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
