Police chase ends in crash, causing major traffic on I-5 near downtown San Diego
Traffic was at a standstill on Interstate 5 near downtown San Diego Saturday night after a police chase ended in a crash.
SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- Traffic was at a standstill on Interstate 5 near downtown San Diego Saturday night after a police chase ended in a crash.
San Diego Police responded to a crash just after 8:30 p.m. Saturday on I-5 north near the interchange with SR-94. According to police, a traffic stop in the area of Imperial Avenue and 22nd Street turned into a police chase.
The driver reportedly ran several red lights, then drove onto I-5, before flipping their vehicle.
Caltrans San Diego reported on X all lanes were closed, but have since reopened.
An investigation into the circumstances of the police chase and crash is ongoing.
