Police and MSHP urge safe travel for Thanksgiving weekend
Police and MSHP are reminding people to drive safely this holiday weekend and to make sure you have a safe way to get home if you plan on drinking.
ST. LOUIS - Police and MSHP are reminding people to drive safely this holiday weekend and to make sure you have a safe way to get home if you plan on drinking.
MSHP says they'll be out enforcing traffic laws, stating last year's Thanksgiving weekend nine people were killed in car crashes and 483 more were injured.
They said the goal is to make sure everyone gets home safely.
"Please drink responsibly. Drive responsibly. If you plan on going out, find a responsible driver. Don't drink and drive," Mitch McCoy, St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, said.
He said they're expecting an increase in visitors in Soulard, so you'll notice more police.
"With a lot of young people in town visiting their families, we'll make sure that they have a good time and make sure that they celebrate responsibly," McCoy said.
