Players Era Festival in Las Vegas Undergoes Changes, Adds Championship Day
The first ever Players Era Festival, a Multi-Team Event between eight different college basketball teams on Thanksgiving weekend, will undergo a format change, adding a Championship Day on Saturday, November 30.
The first ever Players Era Festival, a Multi-Team Event between eight different college basketball teams on Thanksgiving weekend, will undergo a format change, adding a Championship Day on Saturday, November 30.
San Diego State will be joined in Las Vegas, Nevada by Alabama (#2), Houston (#4), Texas A&M (#12), Creighton (#15), Rutgers (#25), Oregon and Notre Dame. All games will be held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
The previously announced schedule for Tuesday and Wednesday will become group play, and Saturday’s games will feature matchups across the two groups, the Impact and Power Groups. The pairings will be determined by the outcomes of group play games.
Each group will be ranked first through fourth and seeding will be decided by point differential in group games. The top seeds will face off in the championship game, with other matchups determining third, fifth and seventh place finishes.
The Aztecs are scheduled to open the tournament on Tuesday, November 26 at 11 a.m. PST against Creighton, followed by a matchup against Oregon on Wednesday, November 27 at 1 p.m. PST.
San Diego State’s regular season opener against UC San Diego is on Wednesday, November 6.
