Plane crash near Smithville Airport sends pilot to hospital, FAA investigating

AUSTIN (KXAN) -- A plane crashed while departing the Smithville Crawford Municipal Airport in Smithville, according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
The airport operations manager told KXAN the pilot was taken to the hospital.
Around 11:30 a.m., a report of the plane crash came in after it departed from the airport with only the pilot on board., the FAA said.
No other details were released Tuesday.
