SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- A man who was struck and killed by a vehicle east of the University of California San Francisco Parnassus Campus on Tuesday has been identified. The victim was identified as 70-year-old San Francisco man Jose Chow, the San Francisco Office of the Medical Examiner confirmed to KRON4 on Thursday.
Chow, a pedestrian, died at the scene after being struck by a large construction vehicle in the area of Parnassus Avenue and Stanyan Street. The collision happened shortly before 8:45 a.m.
The driver remained at the scene to cooperate with the police investigation, and impairment does not appear to be a factor in the collision, police said.
Chow is the 20th pedestrian to die in a collision in San Francisco this year, surpassing the mark of 18 victims in 2023.
