ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Democrat Paul Tonko has won reelection in New York’s 20th congressional district. The Associated Press has called the race for Tonko over Republican challenger Kevin Waltz.
New York’s 20th congressional district includes Albany, Rensselaer, Schenectady and Saratoga Counties. This is Tonko's ninth term in Congress.
In his candidate interview with NEWS10, Tonko said he was hoping to pass a bill to prevent mobile sports betting companies from targeting young people.
Waltz's policy platform included ensuring public safety, securing the southern border, affordability, addressing the opioid and mental health crisis, a smart energy policy, protecting social security, Medicare and veterans services, and supporting small businesses and farmers.
