Patriots inactives: Joshua Uche a healthy scratch amid trade rumors
Joshua Uche will be a healthy scratch for the Patriots on Sunday after being mentioned in trade rumors ahead of the Nov. 5 deadline.
FOXBORO — Patriots pass rusher Joshua Uche is a healthy scratch Sunday against the Jets amid trade rumors.
The NFL trade deadline is Tuesday Nov. 5, and Uche has been a player mentioned that could be moved by the Patriots.
The 26-year-old signed a team-friendly one-year, $3 million contract as a free agent this offseason.
Here’s the full list of inactives:
QB Joe Milton III (third QB)
WR Ja’Lynn Polk (concussion)
G Layden Robinson (ankle)
DT Daniel Ekuale (abdomen)
S Kyle Dugger (ankle)
DE Josh Uche (healthy scratch)
— Milton can only enter the game if Drake Maye and Jacoby Brissett suffer injuries.
— Polk was ruled out Friday. The Patriots will dress six wide receivers: Kayshon Boutte, Kendrick Bourne, DeMario Douglas, K.J. Osborn, Tyquan Thornton and rookie Javon Baker. It’s a slight surprise that Baker is active.
— Expect Vederian Lowe, Mike Jordan, Ben Brown, Mike Onwenu and Demontrey Jacobs to start on the offensive line. Backups will be Zachary Thomas, Lecitus Smith and Sidy Sow.
— Ekuale injured his abdomen Thursday in practice and didn’t particpate Friday. Davon Godchaux, Eric Johnson, Jeremiah Pharms Jr. and Jaquelin Roy will be available at defensive tackle.
— Both of the Patriots’ starting safeties to begin the season, Dugger and Jabrill Peppers (commissioner’s exempt list) won’t play. The team has Marte Mapu, Jaylinn Hawkins and Dell Pettus left at safety.
— The Patriots will dress Anfernee Jennings, Keion White, Deatrich Wise and Ochaun Mathis at defensive end/outside linebacker. Jahlani Tavai, Curtis Jacobs and Sione Takitaki can also play outside linebacker in a pinch.
— Wide receiver Allen Lazard and safeties Tony Adams and Ashtyn David are among the Jets’ inactives. Another top safety, Chuck Clark, is on injured reserve.
