Pantone's newest color inspired by Saratoga Spring Water
Pantone is the global authority on color, and the inspiration for one of its newest colors comes from the Capital Region.
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Pantone is the global authority on color, and the inspiration for one of its newest colors comes from the Capital Region. “Saratoga Signature Blue” was named for the cobalt blue bottles of Saratoga Spring Water.
Saratoga Spring Water and Pantone worked together to come up with the name, ultimately deciding to honor the glass manufacturers.
“There was a lot of discussion on how to capture the essence of that striking blue color and to honor the process our glass manufacturer has in place to ensure that every bottle of Saratoga Spring Water has the same exact hue,” Brittany Aitken, senior brand manager for Saratoga Spring Water, told NEWS10. “Ultimately, we agreed that Saratoga Signature Blue was perfect – this distinct hue is singularly a Saratoga Spring Water experience, and our Pantone name reflects that.”
The color was unveiled through an immersive art installation inspired by the geography of Saratoga Springs at Design Miami on Dec. 2.
Aitken said Saratoga Spring Water will continue to be the official water of “Top Chef” on Bravo. It will also be the official water of the Golden Globe Awards in January.
Saratoga Spring Water was founded in 1872. The water is spring sourced from around the Northeast and is bottled at the plant on Geyser Road in Saratoga Springs.
Saratoga Signature Blue is Color 286 C.
